“We read to know we’re not alone.” William Nicholson
Truth be told, I kind of started this site on a whim. As my wife and I were finishing dinner last night, I followed an impulse . . . I hastily went to the computer, registered the domaine name, bought a generic Word Press site and started writing the first thing that came to my mind. The whole thing took about an hour, and then I went to bed. Twenty-four hours later I am reflecting on all the encouraging comments from people who have responded to the invitation to be part of a new dialog. Wow! Not just the encouraging words, but words of solidarity: “I relate”, “I look forward to being a part of this!” My sister-in-law Amanda’s comment really gets at my hope and the vision for this new website: “I’m really glad you started this blog. We all need to know we’re not alone out there and that our journeys will intersect with the right people at the right time.” I could not have said it any better than that!
Oh, about the name? This is the Occasional Congregation where “occasional” doesn’t mean “infrequently” but “a special occasion” and “congregation” is not a “religious group” but quite literally, a “gathering together.” So let me welcome you to our little web community – welcome to the Occasional Congregation!
